North Park Police is investigating two separate injury accidents involving motorcycles which occurred on 07/19/2016.   

At 07:19, Officers were dispatched to 300 E 200 S in Hyde Park on an accident involving a single motorcycle.  It is unknown at this time what caused the driver to lose control.   Officers arrived to find a 43 year old female, the driver of the motorcycle, with trauma related injuries.  She was treated at Cache Valley Hospital and transported out of the valley for further treatment. 

At 07:58, Officers were dispatched to 2850 N Main on an accident with injuries involving a motorcycle and vehicle.  A 46 year old male was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.


Both incidents are under investigation at this time.

On July 18, 2016, at 12:59 Logan City Dispatch was advised by Preston Police Department in Idaho, there was a male individual that had presented himself in the Preston area with a handgun and threatened to attempt to have a police officer shoot him.  Preston Police investigated finding the individual's vehicle at a bus stop.  The bus line travels south into the Logan area.  Preston Police contacted Cache Valley Transit District (CVTD) to ascertain if an individual matching the description was on the bus.  The bus driver stated an individual matching that description just got off the bus at the North Logan 2200 North Main Street bus stop.  Officers from North Logan and surrounding areas responded finding a man matching the description sitting in a glass enclosed bus bench at 1600 North Main, North Logan. 

Officers closed off Main Street and approached the individual in an un-marked police vehicle.  As officers got out of the vehicle to make contact, the order to “show your hands was given” at which time the individual retrieved a handgun from his waist band, immediately pointing it at his own head.  Without hesitation, the individual pulled the trigger, shooting himself in the head.

Officers tactically approached, gave aid, and summoned EMS.  The individual was transported to Logan Regional Hospital.

The investigation is ongoing; North Logan City Police Department has not yet released the individual’s name.

North Logan Burglary Suspect Apprehended

On the morning of December 24, 2015 at approximately 03:30 A.M. , Officers from the  North Park Police Department responded to a residential burglary in progress at 1306 E 2300 N in North Logan. Officers arrived at the scene and contacted the home owner who stated he confronted a masked male in his garage. During the confrontation, a physical altercation ensued.   The suspect then fled the scene.  The home owner was armed and fired into the ground to hasten the suspects retreat.  The home owner witnesses the suspect get into a Jeep and drive away. As the suspect drove away, he struck a mailbox which damaged his vehicle. Officers of the Logan City Police Department located the vehicle approximately a half hour later in the Walmart parking lot and apprehended the suspect.  The suspect is a James Dover Merritt of Logan.  He was booked into the Cache County Jail on 2nd Felony Burglary, 3rd Felony Burglary and Theft.  The incident is being reviewed by the Cache County Attorney’s office for possible additional charges.

Press Release - Body Located In Green Canyon

At approx. 11:30 on 10/06/15, The North Park Police Department was called to investigate a body located at the mouth of Green Canyon.  The initial investigation has determined that this is a suicide and no additional information will be released.

Press Release Shooting in North Logan 2-7-2015

At approximately 11:50 PM on the 7th of February 2015 a report came into the Logan City Emergency Communications Center of a vehicle crash with injuries at 1830 East  Canyon Ridge Driver in North Logan, Utah.  Emergency personnel responded.  As officer reached to the scene they discovered a white 4dr Subaru up on the park strip and sidewalk of 1830 East Canyon Ridge Drive.  The engine was still running.  The female passenger was determined to be deceased.  The driver was transported by ambulance to the Cache Valley Hospital and then airlifted to a Salt Lake Area hospital where his status is listed as critical.  The investigation revealed that the injuries had not been the result of a vehicle crash.  The female passenger Amanda Lee Hoyt of North Logan had been shot multiple times.   The driver, Christian A. Emerson of Smithfield, is suspected of shooting Ms. Hoyt and then turning the gun on himself.  This case is still under investigation.

Fatal Traffic Accident In Hyde Park UT, 01/13/15

On Tuesday, 01/13/2015, at 4:21 pm, Public Safety Dispatchers received a call of a 79 year old female who had been run over at a residence in Hyde Park Utah.  Law Enforcement and Fire/EMS personnel arrived on scene and the patient was extricated from underneath the vehicle.  The patient was transported to Logan Regional Hospital to be treated.  The patient subsequently died of injuries.

An 80 year old, Max Lamb, of Hyde Park was slowly driving down his driveway towards his house to meet his wife, 79 year old Barbara Lamb.  A slight collision occurred with a parked vehicle in the driveway.  Being distracted by the collision Mr. Lamb did not realize his wife was directly in the path of his vehicle.  Barbara was pulled under the vehicle.  The vehicle then came to rest when it collided with the house.   Mrs. Lamb was trapped under the vehicle.  She was extricated by public safety/ EMS personnel and transported to Logan Regional Hospital.  She subsequently died of her injuries.

A report on the condition of Mr. Dwayne Monson who was involved in a motorcycle/vehicle crash on 9-8-14 in North Logan, Utah.  The report is that his condition is worsening.  He is  extremely critical.
